It’s almost midnight. I am in the airport shuttle heading to my hotel in Budapest where I will spend the next one week of partying hard, fun, entertainment, going out and everything in between that you may associate with channeling one’s inner party animal.
And I guess this is the perfect city for that. Budapest is well known for its dynamic, vibrant, and simply different than any other city’s clubbing scene that you’ve visited or you will visit.
After your rest well from the long day of sightseeing, you will probably want to explore the exciting Budapest nightlife and have a terrific night out. Even though there is no particular district in the city which is favorite to the tourists when it comes to nightlife, we created a list of carefully selected tourist bars and nightclubs in Budapest that will appeal to different musical or other preferences.
360 Bar — Get to know the city’s diverse social scene by starting with the highest rooftop bar in Budapest.
Located on Andrássy Avenue, 360 Bar is real touristic gem.
As its name would suggest, it offers a 360 degree panorama of Budapest, including perfect view to the Citadel, the Parliament, and the St. Stephen’s Basilica. The perfect time to visit it is around sunset, when the magical views to the city are just breathtaking.
After the sunset you can enjoy fine wine and dine with some live music or a DJ set with an admiring view of the sparkling city lights.
Fröccsterasz — Situated in the well-known Erzsébet Square, Fröccsterasz is the place to be if you are looking for light cocktails, sparkling wines, excellent dinner, a young and vivid community.
Always packed with many tourists and locals, this seasonal venue is usually opened during warmer months. Their prices are slightly above the medium, but are nothing excessive. Make sure to arrive earlier though, because there are no reservations.
Menza — Start the night out at the trendy and always crowded Liszt Ferenc Square. All restaurants here are good, but we recommend to you Menza especially!
Menza is the place to be if you want to be amongst both fellow tourists and locals. You will find cool atmosphere in 70’s interior, cheerful décor, and large terrace perfect for laidback cocktails. Great value for money!
Raqpart — Cute summer bar located by the side of the Chain Bridge which is a must visit during your stay in Budapest. The atmosphere and the view of this outdoor terrace-bar are really charming. Enjoy beautiful panoramas with the Danube River and Chain Bridge, simply the best choice for a chill-session with a glass of beer, chips, snacks and kenyérlángos (Hungarian Focaccia Pizza). Transforms into a nightclub later in the evening. It is easily accessible from Deák Ferenc tér, and we highly recommend it during the warmer summer months.
A38 — Don’t consider the Budapest Nightlife Achievement unlocked if you didn’t check out one of the city’s many nightclubs.
The spectrum runs from trendy dance clubs with DJ-s, to jazz, rock, and Latin music. The admission to most of them is free, and some would ask for 2 – 5 EUR entrance fee.
Our recommendation is A38 – cult place by locals and tourists located on the Danube River with live concerts, eclectic music choice, and DJs. The club is a reincarnation of Ukrainian carrier. Live concerts are usually scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, but there are various programs throughout the week.
